Horace Mann School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly skilled Assistant Athletic Trainer who can also serve as a Strength and Conditioning coach. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, Health and Physical Education. this is a full-time, 10-month staff position. The Assistant Athletic Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for designing and implementing strength training programs, as well as providing athletic training services to support the health and well-being of athletes. This role combines the knowledge and expertise of strength training with injury prevention, rehabilitation, and recovery strategies. The expected annual salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000, with the final determination based on experience, education level and other job-related factors.
Key Responsibilities: Develop individualized and group strength and conditioning programs based on athletes’ needs, goals, and sport-specific requirements.
Coverage of practice, home and away (as necessary) competitions for assigned sports, including responsibility over the football team.
Maintain comprehensive records of athletics injuries and treatments.
Perform athletic training duties, including injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Collaborate with coaches, medical staff, and other professionals to ensure the holistic well-being of athletes.
Monitor and evaluate athlete performance to track progress and adjust training programs accordingly.
Educate athletes on proper techniques, nutrition, injury prevention, and overall fitness.
Conduct injury evaluations and make return-to-play decisions in collaboration with the medical team.
Provide emergency care and first aid during practices and competitions when necessary.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of training, injuries, and rehabilitation progress.
Assist with equipment management and facility upkeep.
Stay current with the latest research and trends in strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and athletic training.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credentials through the Board of Certification (BOC).
Current CPR/AED certification.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in strength and conditioning and athletic training.
Strong knowledge of injury prevention, rehabilitation techniques, and recovery strategies.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Passionate about helping athletes achieve their full potential and improve their overall performance.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Experience with a variety of sports, including contact and non-contact sports.
Knowledge of nutrition, performance enhancement strategies, and mental skills training.
Experience with athletes across different age ranges and skill levels.
