STEM/Innovation Lab Teacher (Pre-K through 5th grade)

BCD is seeking a skilled and passionate teaching professional to join our team as an Innovation Lab Teacher.

The ideal candidate for the Innovation Lab Teacher position is a teacher:

• who is highly flexible, creative and self-motivated and able to work with a wide variety of age groups and collaborate with colleagues across divisions, including the Middle School design and innovation teacher.
• who has a passion for STEM education, experience in hands-on or experiential education setting, and a commitment to helping students develop the skills they need to not only exist within the global community, but to actively shape it.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Design and implement a developmentally appropriate, standards-based curriculum (i.e. foundational in design thinking, technology skills, making, engineering, coding, and digital literacy) for preschool and elementary school aged students
• Teach dynamic, project-based, experiential learning experiences that spark curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and engage students in exploring real-world problems.
• Deliver instruction across science, technology, engineering, design, and digital literacy and citizenship that challenges and supports all learners.
• Develop grade level lesson plans that include concepts of experimentation and collaboration ensuring equal opportunities for all learners
• Model and guide students through engineering concepts to cultivate resilience, iteration, and solutions-oriented thinking
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to create opportunities for higher level thinking and creating
• Track and support student growth by holding high expectations for success including monitoring and assessing student progress
• Use technology intentionally - including coding, data analysis, and digital research tools - to deepen learning and prepare students their unknown future
• Ensure the innovation lab is inviting, open and a safe space for students
• Manage and maintain classroom resources, including tools, 3D printers, laser cutters, and other learning materials
• Stay current with best practices in innovation, experiential education, engaging in professional development as needed
• Participate in staff meetings and staff professional development

Hours and Pay

• BCD’s Preschool teachers work traditional school hours (7:30 - 3:30)
• Salary range is $53,000 to $75,000 annually
• This is a 10 month position following an August through May school year calendar.
• This is an exempt position with excellent benefits and paid time off as outlined below

About Boulder Country Day School

Boulder Country Day School is located on 5 acres in Boulder, Colorado. We serve 300 students 2.5 years olds through 8th grade. The Middle School is an approved International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program.
