About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, full-time Science teacher for the 2025-26 school year. The teacher will contribute to our nurturing yet vigorous academic environment. This role involves designing and implementing a range of Science courses, as well as serving as a back-up advisor. Within a dual-accredited school, the position is a unique professional opportunity to integrate therapeutic and academic strategies that support our students' learning.
Core Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging Science curricula, with an anticipated focus on Chemistry and Earth Science.
Collaborate with our clinical team and fellow educators daily to tailor your teaching methods, ensuring a supportive learning atmosphere that encourages re-engagement, confidence-building, and skill use among students.
Maintain detailed records of student progress, adjusting educational strategies as needed to foster both academic and personal growth.
For teaching and advising, work closely with our Counseling Center to propel a therapeutic approach.
Qualifications
Strong commitment to the dual focus of academic engagement and emotional support, as outlined in Stevenson's educational philosophy.
Proven background in Science education, with a preference for candidates with at least 2+ years of experience at the high school or middle school levels.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage regularly with students and colleagues, as well as compose clear written reports.
A proactive approach to professional development, with a willingness to train in evidence-based therapeutic teaching methods.
Ability to work confidentially with discretion and maintain ethical teacher-student boundaries.
Humor, patience, poise, and an ability to purposefully balance structure and flexibility
Salary: Annual salary range of $65,000-100,000

The Robert Louis Stevenson School’s mission is to promote the emotional mastery needed for learning and living, bringing students into a strong academic and therapeutic environment and propelling them towards postsecondary independence and success. The program provides every student individually formulated support in a structured and respectful environment. Stevenson teaches students how to succeed and prepares them to meet the challenges of post-secondary education and everyday life.
Stevenson serves 80 students in grades eight through twelve. Seventh grade applicants who are ready for college preparatory coursework may also be considered.
Stevenson students are intelligent, social, resourceful, and creative. Many have demonstrated significant achievement in areas of particular interest. They may be struggling with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) adjustment problems, anxiety, depression, learning differences, or interpersonal difficulties.
