POSITION SUMMARY
The Hewitt School is seeking a psychologist, school counselor, or licensed clinical social worker as a leave replacement from August 2025 to December 2025.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop relationships with students in grades K-4 to ensure mental health and well-being for all children in the lower school
Observe students in classes and during less structured times in consultation with teachers and offer specific strategies to support classroom behavior and well-being
Provide professional guidance to faculty to best support the social-emotional learning of students
Provide 1:1 support or support in small groups for social or emotional guidance
Partner with learning support team to review neuropsychological evaluations and design support plans
Facilitate crisis response work with students and their families as well as with faculty and wider school community
Make referrals to outside professionals for students needing therapy or other forms of support or assessment
Support teachers and division head in cases of discipline and response
Lead wellness and social-emotional learning classes for students in collaboration with teaching teams
Facilitate lower school Tapestry Circle, an affinity space for students from varied family structures
Collaborate with the health office, learning specialists, and division head to ensure student health, wellness, and safety
Liaise with outside providers to provide a continuity of care to students and families
Design and lead parent education on mental health
Participate in meetings with K-12 counseling team to ensure consistent and mission-aligned practice in support of Hewitt students, families, and faculty
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NYS licensed or license-eligible clinical or school psychologist or social worker (LMSW or LCSW)
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a school setting

SALARY RANGE
Starting Salary Range: $80,000 to $110,000 {prorated for duration of term; (salary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and expertise)
