Latin School of Chicago seeks a full-time Athletic Trainer to support our student athletes. This is a 10-month position starting the second week of August, 2025.

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive athletic training services to middle school and upper school student-athletes. This includes assisting existing athletic training staff with game and practice site coverage, injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and daily athletic training room duties. This role collaborates with other members of the athletic training staff, the Athletic Department, coaches, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure the health and safety of all student-athletes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Injury Prevention & Care:

• Develop and implement injury prevention programs
• Provide immediate care for injuries sustained during practices and competitions
• Apply therapeutic modalities, as needed

Evaluation & Rehabilitation:

• Assess injuries
• Develop and oversee rehabilitation programs
• Monitor and document athlete progress

Return-to-Play Decisions:

• Collaborate with medical professionals to determine safe return-to-play timelines
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and coaches regarding injury status

Emergency Preparedness:

• Implement emergency action plans for athletic events, when necessary
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols during practices and competitions

Record Keeping & Compliance:

• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment logs using SportsWare

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited program
• Master’s degree from a professional athletic training program, accredited by CAATE (if certified after 2022)
   

Certifications:

• Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications

Experience:

• Experience in secondary school athletic training preferred, but not required 
• 3 or more years in athletic training

Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
• Organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in using athletic training software and technology

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly during practices and events
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations

Work Environment:

This position requires working in various environments, including athletic fields, gyms, and locker rooms. This includes off-site home venues. Evening and weekend hours are often required to accommodate practice and game schedules.
