Position Overview and Responsibilities
St. John seeks a part-time (0.2 FTE) High School Chorus teacher for the 2025-2026 school year to teach one section of chorus. Chorus meets on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 7:20 am - 8:00 am. The St. John’s Prep Chorus affords students the opportunity to prepare and perform a wide range of choral repertoire, including classical music, folk songs, jazz, spirituals, contemporary music, and world music. We seek a teacher who actively engages students in the creative process, is intentional in building community within the ensemble, and promotes positive risk-taking through the study and performance of vocal music.

Performance-Oriented: Comfortable preparing students to perform at concerts, recitals, and other school and community events.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in music, music education or related field. A graduate degree is preferred.
Experience as a vocalist and individual/group vocal coach.
Experience working with developing and changing voices.
Select repertoire that allows for success of changing male voices.
Physical Requirements:
Standing/sitting for long periods of time.
Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, play equipment, and perform first aid and CPR.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
