Athletic Director/PE & Health Teacher, Full-time, 10 months, Exempt (salaried)
Salary Range: $70,000-$76,750
Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic educator to join our faculty for the combined position of Athletic Director and Physical Education/Health teacher for the 2025/26 academic year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
teach physical education classes to students in Early Childhood through eighth grade
lead classes that include movement exploration and motor skill development, new games, cooperative sports, social / emotional skill development, traditional athletics, and fun
teach health classes to students in fifth through eighth grade
develop, organize, and supervise all intramural and interscholastic activities
coach middle school athletic teams as well as work with the Head of School to ensure that all coaching positions are filled
ensure proper maintenance and security of athletic equipment, facilities, and fields, working with the Facilities Manager
use technology for maintaining individual student records, communicating information to parents, and promoting student and program achievements
prepare athletic budget each year with the Business Manager
a willingness to actively enhance the wellness program and its initiatives in collaboration with the wellness committee
We expect all faculty members to be fully engaged in the life and mission of the school, in and out of the classroom. The ability to lead or take part in enrichment classes, school committees, after school activities, athletic teams, and/or summer camp courses is desired.
Education and Experience: At a minimum, the candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, or a related field. Teaching experience (particularly in an independent school setting) is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Daily desk work including computer time; as part of daily routines, mobility around a campus with uneven pavement and managing stairs; standing, bending and squatting as required to participate in classroom activities; shifting furniture as needed, lift/carry boxes up to 15 pounds; the ability to maneuver as necessary within a classroom setting; frequent walking inside and outside as part of general job duties and responding to students and/or incidents.
