Parish Episcopal School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Spanish teacher for grades 1 through 4. The ideal candidate will bring language to life through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction that fosters curiosity, cultural appreciation, and a love for learning Spanish. This educator will create a welcoming, student-centered classroom where students feel safe to take risks and build confidence in their speaking skills. By integrating cultural traditions, music, storytelling, and movement, the teacher will help students connect language with meaning and global understanding. A strong candidate will be passionate about early language acquisition and skilled in creating joyful, interactive lessons that promote communication and cultural competence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate Spanish language instruction for students in grades 1–4
Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages risk-taking and language exploration
Foster student confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish through interactive and immersive strategies
Integrate Hispanic and Latin American culture, music, art, storytelling, and traditions into the curriculum
Differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners and language proficiency levels
Collaborate with Lower School colleagues to support interdisciplinary connections and align with broader curricular goals
Regularly assess and document student progress using a variety of formative and summative tools
Support our IMPACT curriculum which focuses on habits of work and mindfulness
Assist with extra-curricular activities and duties as assigned
Adhere to Parish Episcopal “Characteristics of Effective Teaching”
Promote the school’s statement of mission and philosophy
Maintain professional credentials as required by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) or other accrediting agencies
Perform assigned duties such as carpool, lunch, and recess duties
MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Marginal duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

Attends Chapel
Attends Division Meetings
Attends Department & Team Meetings
Attends school events such as Lower School Night, Admission Open House, Field Trips/Class Trips
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree is required
3-5 years’ teaching experience
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in using a hands-on, active approach to teaching and learning with elementary students
Experience supporting diverse learning styles through implementing SEL strategies and effective classroom management
Experience working with a wide range of learning styles in an academic setting
Command of the subject matter and the developmental needs of elementary students
Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that support social-emotional, academic, and behavioral growth.
Creative, energetic, and innovative spirit
Strong knowledge of social-emotional learning strategies, project-based learning, and developmentally appropriate practices.
Continue to grow professionally by working with academic leadership and administration, accepting feedback throughout the evaluation process, attending in-service and professional development/training, in and outside of the school, and reading professionally.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Enthusiasm, commitment, and dedication to the continued development of Parish initiatives
Computer proficiency, including MS Word, MS Excel, collaboration software and Google Suite
Ability to use basic office equipment
Self-motivated and willing to participate in ongoing professional development and independent learning to meet the necessary demands of the position
Discretion and mature judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
Contribute positively to employee morale; maintain a positive, pleasant demeanor to all constituencies
Flexibility in a dynamic environment
Responds well to criticism and deals successfully with challenging people and circumstances
