Green Acres School is seeking a full-time Lower School teacher to join our dynamic staff community for the 2025–2026 school year. Lower School teachers at Green Acres enjoy a highly collaborative environment as they work to promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child in the program. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to foster a love of learning, intellectual curiosity, and critical thinking skills in elementary-aged children. The candidate will also demonstrate fluency in creating and facilitating a student-centered program, featuring an inclusive classroom environment, intentional use of both indoor and outdoor learning spaces, an effective repertoire of classroom management strategies that align with a progressive educational philosophy, and a differentiated curriculum to meet students where they’re at. This teacher possesses the know-how to assess, develop, and extend children’s skills in core academic subjects (language arts, math, and social studies) through an enriching, rigorous, developmentally appropriate hands-on program. The ideal applicant will model joy, curiosity, determination, intellect, and compassion (our mission statement words) in all that they do, inspiring those same qualities in their students.
Responsibilities:
Provide instruction and intervention using the Really Great Reading program, as well as other tools, including, but not limited to Read Naturally and Orton-Gillingham.
Provide instruction and intervention using an intentionally designed and chosen math curriculum, along with supplementary materials and resources.
Provide students with academic differentiation, including support and enrichment, as necessary.
Conduct various ongoing assessments for students in all core academic areas.
Communicate curriculum and individual student growth through newsletters, progress reports, sharing events, and family conferences.
Across topics, meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
Exhibit an approach to teaching that encourages deep knowledge and conceptual fluency, using a curriculum and pedagogy consistent with Green Acres’ progressive philosophy.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
A background in curricular and pedagogical innovation and classroom teaching experience relevant to this position.
A sincere love of working with children, a passion for all core academic subjects, and a love of teaching.
Curiosity and a growth mindset.
Ability to provide differentiated instruction.
Experience integrating technology into the curriculum in a way that is consistent with progressive practices.
