The Brearley School, an independent girls’ school serving over 770 students K-12, welcomes candidates for an Assistant Director of Athletics, who embraces a culturally responsive approach to athletics administration.
The Assistant Director of Athletics will provide administrative support for the Director of Athletics and Associate Director of Athletics. The Assistant Director third in charge of athletics and reports to the Director of Athletics
This is a full-time position that will begin August 1, 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination and Management of Athletics Department
Will assist Athletic Director in afternoon coverage of athletic events, programs, and transportation
Responsible for responding to general email correspondence
Lead special projects designated by AD
Assist in attending and supervising athletic contests and practices
Create, maintain and update coaches information, parent, and student, and captains manuals and handbooks
Attend weekly athletics and PE meetings
Assist in athletic communication and updates via a monthly newsletter, social media, and news items. Update website assists in roster management.
Implement and manage service learning opportunities for sports teams' participation (design lead and implement community service program)
Act as liaison with the Brearley Athletic Spirit Committee to foster school spirit at events
Member of the athletic administrative team (includes Assoc. AD, ATC, and AD)
Field House Management
Manage team equipment uniform inventory
Create and maintain up to date inventory of uniforms at the Fieldhouse
Manage all Field House and 590 gym rental contracts with outside organizations
Manage and input scheduled events in FH calendar
Daily morning walk-through of the facility after evening rentals and before PE classes or athletic matches
Lead monthly meetings with the Facilities Department
Monitor and suggest upgrades/improvements
Conduct an annual survey of all rentals regarding facility satisfaction
Capital Expense Requests
Troubleshooting maintenance and facilities' overall requirements
On-site management of special events at the Fieldhouse (ie. homecoming, tournaments, Family Fun Days, AAIS/NYSAIS Championships, summer camps)
Maintaining athletic equipment and storage/manage team equipment and uniforms
Planning and Organization of Events
Preseason trip
College recognition luncheon
Homecoming
Spring Training Trip
Winter Carnival
Field Days
Awards Banquet /Assembly
Maintain award records and order all awards
May coach the equivalent of 2 Varsity Teams; will be compensated for each according to coach pay scale (Coaching is in addition to normal business requirements).
Qualifications
BA/BS required
Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science Required
1 to 2 years of Athletic Administration experience
1 to 2 Head Coaching experience
Preferred sports: Basketball, Lacrosse
MA preferred

Salary
In 2025-2026, the total salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $82,000, depending on years of full-time relevant experience.
