Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a skilled, dynamic and experienced soccer coach to oversee the effective administration and growth of all aspects of the girls soccer program The Head Soccer Coach position is not a full-time position unless combined with another administrative or teaching duty at the school.        

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of soccer.
• Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with soccer.
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
• Recruit, train, and supervise assistant varsity and junior varsity coaches in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
• Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to AHSAA guidelines.
• Work with administrators and faculty to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
• Collaborate with coaches at the sub-varsity level to ensure program preparation and consistency.
• Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs.
• Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
• Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, administrators, and faculty.
• Work with the Director of Athletics to schedule competitions and coordinate travel arrangements.
• Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment.
• Oversee the process of ordering, cleaning, repairing, and storing athletic equipment and uniforms.
• Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in soccer during away games.
• Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook.
• Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least three to five years of soccer coaching experience is required.  
• Experience in an independent school setting is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to The Montgomery Academy's mission and core values.
• Knowledge of current best practices in athletic administration, including compliance with AHSAA regulations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.
• Ability to contribute to another significant teaching/administrative duty at the school.
