Requirements
Faculty must be academically prepared and highly effective at teaching and designing curriculum for a rotating block course schedule of three 80-minute periods per six-day cycle, along with a weekly tutorial period for additional individual or small group instruction. Faculty must be adept at using technology for teaching and learning, and supporting students.
We work in a team-based structure with a high level of communication and collegiality. Active participation in a faculty culture of continuous learning, professional development, and intellectual growth is expected and supported. Opportunities are available to coach, direct, and lead activities in the extracurricular program, in which all students are encouraged to participate.
About the Position: Interim HS Physics Teacher
The Grace Church science department is looking for a full time interim physics teacher starting in August 2025 who is qualified to teach at multiple levels of the discipline with the potential for electives to be developed based on interest and qualifications.
Full-time faculty responsibilities include the following:
Creating lesson plans and laboratory opportunities following the science department’s curricular and pedagogical goals
Assigning regular homework, creating assignments and maintaining gradebooks in accordance with class content and department’s policy
Grading students and giving regular feedback
Writing report cards quarterly
Collaborate and coordinate with subject team leaders, working with the High School Science Department Chair to ensure consistent delivery of Grace Church School’s science program
Attend science department meetings and faculty meetings
Active participation in a team-based culture of collegiality is expected and supported
Perform other duties as assigned, for example one hour each week of supervising students in the library or common areas
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree or beyond is preferred. Interest in coaching public forum debate is a plus.
Compensation
This is a full-time faculty position with an expected base salary of $68,000–$155,040 commensurate with education and experience on the faculty salary scale.
