William Penn Charter School is a Quaker, all-gender, PK-12 independent, day school in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia. Position Summary
The Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for fostering lifelong, mutually beneficial relationships between the school and its alumni community. This individual will lead a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy that includes communications, events, volunteer management, and giving. The Director will play a key role in encouraging alumni participation, deepening affinity for the school, and building a pipeline for volunteer engagement and future philanthropic support.
Key Responsibilities
Build and strengthen relationships with alumni through strategic communications, events, and personal outreach
Partner with event coordinator to plan and lead alumni events, including milestone reunions, regional gatherings, affinity-based meetups, and alumni networking opportunities
Develop and manage alumni communications, including newsletters, Class Notes, alumni spotlights, and digital engagement
Oversee alumni social media presence and maintain updated alumni records using LinkedIn, social platforms, and CRM tools
Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Development to support alumni giving and identify major gift and planned giving prospects
Manage the Penn Charter Alumni Society and other volunteer engagement opportunities
Create and promote career networking initiatives to support alumni-to-alumni and alumni-to-student connections
Track and analyze alumni engagement trends, maintaining accurate data in the school’s CRM
Serve as a visible and enthusiastic ambassador for the school at internal and external alumni events
Other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer, Director of Development, or their designee

Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in alumni relations, advancement, communications, or related field
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships with a diverse alumni community
Experience managing events and volunteers
Proficiency with CRM/database systems and social media platforms
Strong writing, storytelling, and editing skills for multiple communication formats
Ability to travel and work occasional evenings/weekends for events
Enthusiasm for the mission and values of Penn Charter, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
