OpenDor Media is seeking a dynamic, seasoned, and experienced educator based in New York or New Jersey to join our growing ConnectED division. ConnectED partners with independent and public schools (grades 6–12) to help students and educators engage thoughtfully with complex and often sensitive topics, including the Israeli-Palestinian story, antisemitism and the Holocaust, Jewish history, courageous conversations, and media literacy. We believe in nuance, empathy, and respectful dialogue—and we’re looking for someone who can bring that spirit into classrooms and faculty rooms.
This full-time role is remote, but significant in-person teaching is required. You’ll regularly facilitate programs in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) and travel approximately once per month to deliver programming and support partner schools in other cities.
The ideal candidate brings deep classroom experience, comfort leading public presentations and discussions, and a warm, professional presence. They are passionate about education, fluent in working across diverse and secular environments, and ready to serve as a thought partner and guide for schools navigating some of today’s most pressing educational challenges. ConnectED welcomes applicants of all backgrounds who share our mission and values.
What You’ll Do:
Design and adapt curriculum for grades 6–12 that aligns with ConnectED’s video content and core subject areas.
Deliver professional development sessions, lead classroom programs, and present at webinars and conferences—both in person and on Zoom.
Support faculty through one-on-one coaching, curriculum guidance, and implementation support.
Travel monthly to deliver programming and meet with school partners, primarily in the tri-state area with occasional national trips.
Facilitate courageous conversations on complex topics with both students and educators in ways that are inclusive, nuanced, and age-appropriate.
Represent ConnectED at school programs and events, ensuring high-quality delivery and smooth execution.
Lead the Student Advisory Board, a New York-based group that provides feedback on content, programs, and opportunities for school engagement.
Collaborate with colleagues across ConnectED and OpenDor Media, contributing to strategy, resource development, and team culture.
What You Have:
Classroom Experience: Minimum of 7 years teaching in a middle or high school setting, ideally within independent or secular schools.
Curriculum Expertise: Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and familiarity with models such as UbD or PBL.
Confident Presenter: Strong public speaking skills and comfort leading both large group sessions and intimate discussions.
Mission Alignment: Deep interest in at least some of our core topics (Israel, antisemitism, Jewish history, media literacy) and a commitment to nuance and empathy.
Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build trust with educators, school leaders, and students; polished and professional presence.
Facilitation Strength: Experience guiding conversations around challenging or sensitive topics with poise and care.
Collaborative Spirit: A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment with a “get things done” mindset.
Tech Fluency: Proficiency in Google Workspace and Zoom; ability to facilitate engaging online programs and webinars.
Cultural Fit: Brings a secular, inclusive perspective that resonates in diverse school environments.
Empowering academic institutions to achieve their goals of fostering critical thinking, empathy and respectful discourse on the Israeli-Palestinian story, antisemitism and Jewish history, and equipping students with the skills for media literacy and courageous conversations.
