Annual salary is $42,500 to $52,500 based upon degrees and experience. Notre Dame Preparatory School (NDP), a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 - 12 located in Towson, Maryland, seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Social Service who will promote, facilitate, and foster institutional outreach of community service and social justice. Working both internally and with outside partners, the Assistant Director’s job is to support students as they transform the world. This 12-month position requires substantial evening and weekend availability, with the ability to flex hours as-needed, and necessitates driving minibuses and chaperoning students off-site.
Summary of Position:
12-month position with an emphasis on afterschool and weekend outreach programming.
Oversee the social service graduation requirement for students grades 10, 11, and 12.
Support outreach clubs and initiatives via student engagement, faculty/staff chaperone recruitment, and external partnership coordination.
Organize annual social service delegations and other school-wide justice events.
Develop and maintain community partnerships throughout the area.
Duties will include:
Tracking and monitoring the completion of required service hours for grades 10, 11, and 12 via an internal database (approximately 500 students) with clear and consistent communication with all students and families.
Scheduling and chaperoning multiple after-school outreach programs per week and multiple weekend outreach programs per month.
Introducing the social service requirement to first year students during guidance class each spring.
Teaching a fall-semester Social Service Seminar to all of the 11th
Overseeing spring workshops for the service op-ed project for all of the 12th
Ensuring ethical outreach foundations in the context of Catholic Social Teaching and in keeping with the school’s DEIB institutional commitments.
Organizing existing immersion delegations to locations such as Mississippi, the Borderlands and Virginia and establishing new opportunities as needed.
Coordinating justice-oriented institutional traditions such as Stone Soup Day, Coffeehouse, and Dinner with our Elders.
Supporting and/or implementing summer service opportunities throughout June and July, including the Virginia Delegation, Sisters Academy Athletic Camp, Camp Umoja, and First Fruits Farm visits.
Supporting and reinforcing the institutional identity of Notre Dame Preparatory School to all constituencies.
Additional teaching duties (religion and/or service-learning) as determined on a year-to-year basis.
All duties as otherwise assigned by the Director of Social Service and the Head of School.
