Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Facilities & Maintenance, the Assistant Director of Facilities performs routine and general maintenance, repairs, and operations of all building systems and services throughout campus, including but not limited to:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assisting with Daily Operations: This includes overseeing maintenance and repair activities, managing work orders, and coordinating services such as cleaning, landscaping, and pest control. Carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, finishes, electrical
Implementing Policies and Procedures: Assisting in developing and enforcing policies and procedures related to facility operations, safety, and compliance.
Budget & Invoice Management: Process and manage department budgets and invoices, verify and reconcile financial data, and collaborate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
Safety and Compliance: Ensuring that facility operations comply with safety regulations and building codes.
Customer Service: Interacting with building occupants, stakeholders, and vendors to address their needs and ensure smooth operations.
Cross-Department Coordination: Work closely with various departments to assess and fulfill facility-related needs.
Space & Furniture Management: Support school departments with spatial needs, including procurement, allocation, and installation of office and classroom furniture.
Safety & Emergency Preparedness: Assist in maintaining fire, evacuation, crisis response, and contingency plans. Participate in emergency drills as required.
Compliance Documentation: Assist in maintaining accurate records for regulatory compliance.
Project Management Assistance: Helping to coordinate and oversee facilities projects. Perform additional facilities tasks and projects assigned to support the school's operational goals, and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, and SKILLS
Experience: Relevant experience in facilities maintenance, operations, or a related field, often including supervisory experience
Technical Skills: Knowledge of building systems, maintenance techniques, and relevant regulations
Leadership Skills: Ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with various individuals and groups, including vendors
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of people, including students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently
Problem-solving Skills: Ability to identify issues and implement solutions
Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with relevant software like Microsoft Office Suite and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Interest in working in a child-centered environment
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Availability to be on campus on short notice for emergencies and other unforeseen facility needs
Time Flexibility – Availability to work on weekends and nights when needed

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands include bending, lifting, and moving furniture on a regular basis. The ability to be on your feet for an extended period. Physical ability to lift heavy objects to 50 pounds or more, climb ladders, and work both in confined spaces and outside.
