St. Mark's School seeks a skilled and creative French teacher to teach one to two sections of French in the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience teaching multiple levels of high school French. They will be highly collaborative and committed to using communicative teaching strategies as well as inclusive, developmentally appropriate pedagogies for our community of diverse learners. As a French teacher, you will be a member of the Modern and Classical Languages department and report to the head of the department and the Assistant Head of School/ Dean of Faculty. What You’ll Do as a St. Mark’s French Teacher:
As a part-time St. Mark’s faculty member and classroom teacher, you will teach one to two French courses, partner with colleagues in the Modern and Classical Languages Department, and attend some all-school events. Other key responsibilities are as follows:
Support students' development of communicative competencies in French along with intercultural skills and mindsets
Provide students in the classroom with timely, ongoing, and meaningful feedback, including comments for each student at the end of grading periods
Salary:
Pay is commensurate with experience. For reference, please find the base salary bands for full time, residential faculty members whose primary responsibilities are in the classroom below:
Years of experience between 31 and 40 years: $90,100 - $94,900
Years of experience between 21 and 30 years: $70,890 - $89,850
Years of experience between 11 and 20 years: $56,670 - $68,900
Years of experience between 0 and 10 years: $27,810 - $53,770
Depending on the candidate’s experience and level of interest, there is the possibility of additional responsibilities and compensation in the school program, including residential duty and athletic coaching.

Required Skills and Abilities:
A degree in French or a related, interdisciplinary field is essential
Native or near-native language skills in French and English
Ability to teach French language and literature from Levels I - III
Familiarity with contemporary research-backed best practices in language teaching, including concepts like comprehensible input, ACTFL proficiency standards, and language acquisition
Enthusiasm for work with adolescent students in multiple contexts
Outstanding task and time management skills with high attention to detail
Strong leadership, collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills
Proficiency with computer applications such as Google Suite including Docs, Slides, and Sheets
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of experience designing and delivering assessments and curriculum materials in French
Native or near-native language skills in French and English
Capable of working with beginning through advanced language learners and should have a facility with collaborative curriculum design and communicative teaching pedagogies
Familiarity with residential communities and the needs of adolescents
Familiarity with the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
Success working with culturally diverse populations as well as a commitment to inclusive pedagogy
Commitment to continuous self-reflection and professional growth
