Salary is commensurate with experience and degree earned and ranges from $130,000.00 to $160,000.00 annually. Maryvale Preparatory School is seeking a Director of Finance and Operations to begin employment June 1, 2026 or sooner. This position is an exempt, full time, 12-month position. This position will report directly to the President.
Professional Competencies
The Director of Finance and Operations is an integral member of the Leadership Team and understands and demonstrates commitment to the mission and vision of Maryvale Preparatory School. This position oversees essential aspects of school operations, including but not limited to comprehensive financial management and forecasting, accounting functions, auxiliary revenue, investments, human resources and campus facilities. The Director of Finance and Operations has direct oversight of Business Office personnel and major vendors. Personnel managed includes Director of Plant Engineering, Director of Human Resources, Director of Technology, Controller, Accounting Manager, School Store Manager, and the Dining services (outsourced).
Financial Responsibilities
Maintains daily finance management, a long-range financial plan and budget for the institution;
Oversees all financial, Business Office, and Human Resources internal controls and procedures to ensure integrity and compliance ;
In collaboration with the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees, direct the budget process and financial forecasting;
Serve as financial liaison to the Board of Trustees and the Facilities, Investment, and Finance Committees
Work with a independent audit firm to effect a timely yearly audit;
Serve as primary contact in the management of all bank and vendor relationships;
Interact with legal counsel as necessary;
Manage operation cash and investments, oversee covenant compliance and other bond related matters
Serve as a member of the school’s Leadership Team;
Oversee all aspects of Human Resources;
Regularly review salary and non-salary compensation with regard to peer schools; manage the pension and benefits plans; oversee employee contracts;
Oversee the management and operation of the School Store;
Work directly with the Director of Admissions and the President to perform annual analysis of tuition rates, financial aid, and offer recommendations for establishing annual tuition and fee rates.
Work directly with the Director of Admissions and the President on the financial aid process;
Oversee preparation of student billing and accounts receivable
Oversee Accounts Payable
Work collaboratively with the Development Office to support all aspects of fund raising;
Manage the school’s relationship with the local neighborhood community association.
Facilities Responsibilities
Have direct oversight of facilities and IT staff;
Oversee regular and long-term maintenance of existing facilities;
Supervise campus-wide security arrangements and assist in the review and execution of the school’s Crisis Management Plan;
Responsible for oversight of campus Master Planning;
Work with architects and others on any and all construction and major repair projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
3-5year’s experience on senior administrative teams and working with progressive financial responsibility.
Experience working in an educational setting or another non-profit organization preferred.
Critical thinker who effectively analyzes and collaborates to find creative solutions to problems.
Strong financial and accounting insight to maintain the organization’s healthy fiscal status and advance the mission of Maryvale Preparatory School through effective budgeting.
Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively interact with others.
Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Understanding and commitment to the educational mission of a Catholic educational institution.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
