St. Clement’s School (“the School” or “SCS”) is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications Content Writer to join our Communications team. This full-time position plays an essential role in shaping and amplifying the School’s voice across digital and print platforms. Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications, the successful candidate will be a passionate storyteller who thrives on uncovering meaningful narratives and crafting captivating content that reflects our mission, values, and connected community.
As a part of the Advancement department, this position will collaborate closely with departments across the School to source, curate, and produce compelling content that informs, inspires, and connects with a diverse audience of students, families, alums, friends, and donors. Whether writing feature articles, social media posts, fundraising appeals, email campaigns, or website copy, this writer will bring energy, creativity, and strategic insight to every project.
This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about storytelling, proactive in seeking out content opportunities, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and produce engaging written content that supports SCS’s strategic objectives and reflects the School’s mission and values;
Apply narrative techniques to craft rich, story-driven content that resonates with key audiences—including current and prospective students, families, alums, and donors—and strengthens their connection to the School;
Explore and seek out educational themes, developments, and emerging trends to generate original content ideas that reflect the School’s thought leadership and academic excellence;
Seek out and uncover compelling stories by conducting interviews with faculty, staff, students, families, alums, and donors;
Collaborate across departments to source timely updates and support cross-functional messaging needs;
Craft sophisticated, inspiring narratives for a variety of digital platforms and print publications;
Ensure brand voice and messaging consistency across all communications;
Edit and proofread content for grammar, tone, style, and accuracy;
Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities;
Stay current with marketing and communications trends and strategies to optimize content and engagement;
Support website content updates and contribute to the management of online platforms; and
Foster a culture of collaboration, empathy, and inclusion within the school community.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES OF OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Post-secondary degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field;
3–5 years of experience producing written communications that are clear, lively, and compelling;
Proven track record as a Content Writer, Copywriter, or similar role with a strong portfolio of published work;
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a sharp eye for detail;
Deep understanding of storytelling techniques and audience engagement;
Enthusiastic and proactive in sourcing content and building relationships across the School;
Strong research skills and ability to synthesize information from credible sources;
Familiarity with SEO principles and content optimization strategies;
Experience in the education sector or a strong interest in independent schools;
Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), blogging platforms, and digital tools;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration;
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver creative projects on schedule;
Supports and contributes to a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion;
Experience with photography, videography, and editing is a plus;
Resourceful and flexible with strong organization, problem-solving, and time management skills;
Managing competing priorities and multiple tasks while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy;
Proactive approach to work and capable of working with minimal supervision;
Participation in the full life of the School; and
Criminal record check is required as a condition of employment.
