Salary Details:
Compensation will be between $70,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Given the school year is underway, the salary will be prorated based on start date.

We are seeking to fill this full-time vacancy through June 2026 with the possibility of extending this position into the next school year. Candidates interested in either the role of Upper School Counselor or Wellness Teacher may inquire about the option of a part-time position.
The US Counselor and Wellness Teacher is adept at engaging and communicating effectively with students, parents/guardians, and faculty, and has excellent teaching, curriculum development, and presentation skills. Professionalism and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters are vital in this role. Wellness classes address topics in digital citizenship, mental health, identity, physical health, sexuality and human development, and social-emotional development. Candidates should have experience and a high level of comfort in teaching all aspects of the program.
This position works with upper school students, collaborates closely with the division director, grade deans, the Associate Head for Program, and the Assistant Head: Student Life, to whom this position reports. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to and passion for equity, inclusion, and belonging in all facets of their work.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching Wellness classes.
Consulting with teachers regarding social, emotional and behavioral needs of students. This may include developing and implementing behavior plans for students who need them or providing direct observation of students during classes as needed.
Meeting regularly with other members of the Wellness and Counseling teams, the division director, and the Assistant Head: Student Life to address student issues and assess divisional Wellness program needs.
Consulting with parents and guardians of students regarding the social-emotional needs of their child(ren). This may include making referrals to outside therapy for the student or family and communicating with outside therapists who are serving students.
Meeting with students who are in acute distress and providing urgent care or short term counseling as needed.
Documenting, in a timely way, all relevant communications with students, parents/guardians, and outside professionals, and sharing these with appropriate people.
Seeking out opportunities to create, organize, and/or present programs that educate students, faculty, and parents on Wellness and/or Counseling related issues.
Staying attuned to the diversity of our students and demonstrating cultural competence in the classroom and in serving families of all identities.
