Job Summary and Scope of Responsibility: Bernard Zell seeks a motivated program manager to take responsibility for the daily operations and oversight of the BZ auxiliary programs, currently consisting of the BZ Beyond after-school program, days off camps, Early Childhood summer camp, and rentals. Responsibilities include developing new revenue opportunities and overseeing daily staff as well as outside providers to ensure the goals of the programs are being met. This role is on a year-round schedule. When school is in session, hours are 9:30AM to 5:30PM on Monday - Thursday and 8:30AM to 4:30PM on Friday. Duties and Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Associate Head of School, develop and maintain a portfolio of auxiliary programs which support the school’s philosophy and goals (including financial goals) and connect to the school’s mission, vision, and brand.
- Execute and manage the daily operations of the auxiliary programs, including the arrival and dismissal procedures, transitions to and from activities, observing and providing feedback to daily staff, and connecting and coordinating programs with outside and enrichment class providers.
- Manage the purchasing process for supplies and snacks, maintaining proper inventories to support the program on an ongoing basis.
- Support the student experience by responding to emergent behavioral concerns and collaborating with both teachers and parents.
- Support internal and external providers of enrichment classes by communicating schedule changes and procedural adjustments due to changing circumstances in the school environment.
- Ensure the program activities are developmentally appropriate and align with the needs of students.
- Manage online registration systems, including participant enrollment, refund/cancellations, billing reminders, and administrative changes.
- Coordinate with the BZ Nurse to manage the oversight of any allergies or other health-related needs to ensure a safe environment.
- Coordinate and oversee operations of miscellaneous programming outside of the normal curriculum as necessary, such as day-off camps, faculty and staff childcare for conferences, etc.
- Coordinate with the Business Office to manage revenues and expenses and matters of financial aid to achieve budget targets.
- Coordinate rental opportunities in collaboration with the Operations team, ensuring contracts are fully executed and payments are collected.
- Maintain and secure equipment, materials, and supplies as appropriate.
- Research and develop additional auxiliary revenue opportunities.
Program Staffing:
- Supports daily oversight of auxiliary program staff.
- Supervise and evaluate vendors and instructors for BZ Beyond’s enrichment classes.
- Ensure appropriate staffing ratios with children of different developmental ages, including providing occasional direct services.
- Assess and evaluate programs and instructors, regularly soliciting formal and informal feedback from all constituents.
Customer Satisfaction:
- Respond promptly and effectively to student or parent questions or concerns and staff and vendor needs.
- Communicate with parents and caretakers regularly and proactively, providing top-notch customer service.
- Collaborate with Bernard Zell’s Associate Head of School on the well-being of students after school.
- Ensure a strong customer service approach to all aspects of BZ student activities, building raving fans.
Other Duties:
- Provide support to the Early Childhood division, including supervision of students during rest and lunch times as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned in support of the greater school community.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in education or related fields.
- Experience working with children and families.
- Non-profit child-centered experience preferred.
- Program management experience preferred.
- Independent school experience is a plus.

Compensation: Bernard Zell offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a supportive workplace culture.
