The High Mountain Institute (HMI) seeks a History Faculty–Parental Leave Coverage, a full-time teaching position at the school, starting in March 2026, and running through the end of the school year (end of May 2026). This position is based on HMI’s campus in Leadville, CO; on-campus housing is included in the compensation package. Reporting to the Director of Academics and Faculty, responsibilities include teaching sections of AP and non-AP US History and residential life duties.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Teach up to 3 sections of history, including AP US History and Western Perspectives during the semester
Participate in weekly overnight residential responsibilities
Mentor a history apprentice (student teacher) during the semester
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in history or a related field
Prior History teaching experience, US History preferred
A demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Enthusiasm for working with teenagers in a residential setting
Criminal and driving background check required
