Overview Morristown Beard School (MBS), an independent coeducational day school located in Morristown, NJ, seeks a skilled and thoughtful leader to serve as the School’s next Director of Enrollment Management, assuming the role in July 2026. Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Director of Enrollment Management leads the Admission Office, provides strategic partnership and counsel to the Head of School, and, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, collaborates frequently and thoughtfully with colleagues.
Position Summary Serving as a strategic thought partner for the Head of School, the Director of Enrollment Management must stay current regarding demographics, enrollment strategy and trends, and value proposition. The individual is an integral member of the highly collaborative Senior Leadership Team (SLT) that has established trusting working relationships. In this capacity, the Director of Enrollment Management will work with the SLT and the Admission Team, while also participating in the development of the School’s retention strategy and implementation of the current strategic plan. In support of these processes, the Director of Enrollment Management will provide recommendations, analysis, projections, and other data. To participate effectively in this work, the Director of Enrollment Management must build trusting relationships by respectfully listening to and working with colleagues and other members of the School community.
Working with an experienced admissions staff, the Director of Enrollment Management will oversee all aspects of admission and retention processes. Providing strong leadership for the office, the Director of Enrollment Management manages and mentors direct reports while exploring ways to bring efficiency and purpose.

Position Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
Lead all aspects of the admissions process in partnership with the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team
Develop and implement a comprehensive enrollment strategy aligned with the School’s mission and goals
Serve as a member of and thought partner to the Senior Leadership Team
Make final admissions decisions in consultation with school leadership
Analyze enrollment trends and market data to guide planning and growth
Manage, mentor, and support the admissions staff
Outreach & Community Engagement
Represent the School externally at fairs, feeder schools, and community events
Cultivate relationships with feeder schools and partner organizations
Plan and lead admissions events, tours, and outreach initiatives to attract a diverse applicant pool
Foster strong relationships with faculty, trustees, and current families
Admissions Operations
Oversee the full admissions cycle, including inquiries, applications, assessments, interviews, and enrollment contract administration
Manage financial aid processes in coordination with the Business Office
Ensure timely and transparent communication with prospective families
Collaborate with faculty to assess student fit and placement
Retention Operations
Oversee re-enrollment contract administration in coordination with the Business Office
Lead school-wide retention efforts in collaboration with faculty and administration
Chair of Enrollment Management Teams for each division
Marketing & Communications
Collaborate with the Communications team to create engaging, mission-aligned admissions materials and ensure consistent, high-impact messaging across all platforms and touchpoints
Database Systems Management
Oversee management of admissions, enrollment, and CRM electronic systems (Veracross and Hubspot)
Serves as a point of contact for all database-related interdepartmental collaboration
Oversee institutional research standards compliance to ensure data integrity
Works closely with the Director of Technology to support database infrastructure
Track and analyze enrollment trends, retention data, and demographics
Collaborate with internal constituents to promote and support institutional research
Present insights and recommendations to the Head of School and Board of Trustees
Qualifications and Personal Attributes
Minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience in admissions, enrollment management, and marketing, preferably within an independent school setting
Strategic and analytical thinker with strong operational and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated high EQ, with the ability to build relationships across a wide range of constituencies
Deep commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
Proficiency with data management systems (Veracross), digital marketing platforms (Hubspot), and budget oversight preferred
