St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Upper School Science Teacher, one semester leave replacement for Spring (early January-early June) 2026 .

Position Summary:
This is a one-semester, full-time appointment open to applicants with the knowledge, experience, and desire to teach science, including Physics 9 (an algebra-based Physics course for 9th graders that utilizes modeling pedagogy) and either Chemistry (grade 11) or Advanced Physics electives (primarily grades 11-12).
Candidates should have experience teaching science in a student-centered classroom. The ideal candidate will have experience with project-based learning and standards-based grading. As importantly, we seek candidates committed to developing and practicing cultural competence in their teaching.
The successful candidate will also serve as an advisor to a group of 8-10 students. They will approach their role as an advisor with a drive to better understand the emotional needs of their students and support a program where self-reflection, empathy, and flexibility are the goals.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in science is required; an advanced degree in science or science education is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Candidates should support the mission of SPA, the vision of the Upper School, and be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm.
