Talcott Mountain Science Center, Academy, & Research Institute (“Talcott”) is seeking a part-time Marketing Content Creator to capture the innovation, wonder, research, and hands-on learning that defines our organization. This individual will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and leadership to develop and execute a consistent visual and narrative content strategy across our website, print materials, and various digital platforms, including social media, Substacks, and more. The primary goal of this role is to generate compelling marketing materials, high-quality photos, and short-form videos that are consistent with Talcott's brand identity, mission, and strategic messaging.
As the central visual storyteller, you will spend dedicated, scheduled time on campus and at related facilities to capture high-quality photos and short-form video of our activities in an unobtrusive manner. You will be responsible for editing, sequencing, and enhancing visual and aural content; organizing video into engaging short-form content suitable for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Substack, or Talcott blogs; and designing print materials. A critical duty is maintaining an organized, cloud-based, curated library of all visual and aural assets.
The successful candidate will also proactively communicate with the Senior Leadership Team and faculty to identify upcoming compelling activities and features worthy of promotion. You must ensure all content adheres strictly to organizational brand guidelines, tone, and messaging, reflecting Talcott’s focus on STEM excellence, inquiry-based research, and curiosity. The full position description is available here.
To be considered for this role, email an updated PDF resume to careers@tmsc.org. Please use the subject line “Marketing Content Creator.” No phone calls please. Review of applications will begin immediately. Finalist candidates will be asked to provide a list of at least three professional references. Ultimately, employment is contingent upon completion of a fingerprint-based background check.
The ideal candidate must be reliable, professional, and possess a marvelous sense of humor and unceasing joy in exploration, curiosity, and discovery. Required qualifications include a demonstrated portfolio showcasing strong photography, videography, and graphic design skills, particularly in a dynamic, people-centric environment, and proficiency in modern mobile and/or professional video/photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Rush, InShot, Canva, CapCut, or professional equivalents). This is a part-time, hourly position, scheduled for approximately 5-8 hours per week, normally during school/program hours, with flexibility for occasional nights and weekends for pre-planned events. The hourly rate will be between $23-$25.
