Greenwich Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school with a current enrollment of over 1400 students in grades N-12, and a faculty and staff of over 350. The original Old Church Road campus is home to grades N-8. The High School, established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on Stanwich Road. Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Science Fellow, Grades 9-12, to start in August 2026. The Science Fellow will co-teach Biology/Chemistry/Physics. The Fellow will engage in meaningful collaboration with colleagues and the Upper School faculty and will be part of a larger cohort of new teachers who will be mentored by a team of master teachers, and engage in meaningful collaboration with Upper School faculty. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching Science and for working with Upper School students, along with a strong desire to learn about independent school teaching. Responsibilities Include:
Mentored instructional responsibility for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in assigned grade level(s)
Assist with staffing our Math Lab
Collaboration with mentor teachers to provide instruction
Collaboration with advisors, learning specialist teachers, and school psychologists to understand and support individual students’ learning needs
Participation in the oversight of the progress of each child in the subject area
Participation in the assessment of all students' progress in both written and verbal reports
Effective communication and partnership with parents
Collaboration with colleagues on grade level and interdisciplinary faculty teams, Upper School faculty and staff, and the broader school community
Supervision of students during recess, lunch, arrival, and dismissal as requested by the Division Head
Significant participation in the life of the school, including coaching, covering classes as necessary, advising clubs, etc.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
Entrepreneurial mindset and approach to building a program beyond the current scope
A passion for learning and the ability to motivate and inspire students
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in scientific research (preferred)
Commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community
Willingness to take on multiple roles within the division
Personal traits appropriate for nurturing the growth of students - must be energetic, creative, flexible, patient, and have an inexhaustible sense of humor
