Full-Time Boarding Assistant in Girls' Residence Hall Position
Keio Academy of New York (https://www.keio.edu/is an international boarding school in Purchase, NY. It is the only overseas operation affiliated with Keio University (https://www.keio.ac.jp/en/) in Japan. Keio Academy of New York seeks to appoint one full-time Boarding Assistant in the Girls' Residence Hall starting from January 5, 2026, or January 26, 2026 (the start of the 3rd Quarter). The Boarding Assistant resides in a private apartment within a gender-separated dormitory that houses 50 students from grades 9 through 12 in each Residence Hall and provides supervision for all aspects of dormitory life. For the safety and security of our students, only Boarding Assistant employees may reside in the Residence Hall. The Boarding Assistant works collaboratively with the Head of House and generally works 4-6 days per week, including alternating weekend shifts while the School is in session, generally from around 3:15 pm to 11:00 pm and 7:00 am until 8:00 am on regular weekdays. Working hours will vary during weekends, exam weeks, and holiday shifts. During nighttime hours between 11:00 pm ~ 7:00 am, it will be on-call hours. Depending on the School's needs, extra work hours may be required. Boarding Assistant will be asked to work in rotation during the Thanksgiving holiday and Spring Break to supervise students who remain at the dormitory. In return, the Boarding Assistant will enjoy long paid breaks during the summer and the December-early January holiday season.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year College or University.
Experience as a resident supervisor, camp counselor, or teacher is a plus.
CPR and First Aid are preferred. The School provides an opportunity to obtain certificates after employment.
A driver's license is strongly preferred.
Candidates with a background in Art or experience teaching Art are a plus.

Salary from: $30,000 ~ 35,000 (DOE)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and pastoral care:
Oversee daily activities of girls in the dormitory, ensuring a safe and respectful living environment.
Respect and maintain the privacy of girls during personal hygiene activities and other sensitive situations.
Provide supervision and pastoral care for students through boarding life during non-academic hours, in principle, e.g., ensuring students' safety and security, monitoring students' behavior, and dealing with disciplinary issues.
Plan, execute, and chaperone various events on and off campus.
Support students' social, intellectual, and behavioral development by providing pastoral care as in loco parentis (e.g., developing awareness of health and living skills, checking health conditions, dispensing instructed medications, accompanying students to a hospital, dealing with emergencies, and liaising with parents and outside support)
Participate in the Pre-Entry program in late August.
Support for academic activities:
In principle, teach 1-2 ILS classes per week in the Academic Extension Program or other programs, as needed.
Support for extra-curricular or sports activities:
Assist with non-boarding extra-curricular activities as reasonably required by the related Dean in Consultation with the Dean of Boarding.
School duties:
Participate in committees as assigned by the School.
Assume School roles as assigned by the School, such as Fire Marshall, advisor, or officer for student activities.
Other duties as assigned:
If Boarding Assistant is suitably qualified and asked by the Chairs of the Department to teach some classes of the core Curriculum, Boarding Assistant will be remunerated $30 per class session.
Maintain high ethical standards in the workplace.
Maintain good communication with students, parents, resident staff, faculty, and outside contacts.
Reside in a girls' Residence Hall (Dormitory). The room for Resident Faculty is on the same floor and in the exact location as the room for only girls students.
Enter the students' rooms and wake those who don't wake up until the due time.
May include physical contact and/or observation of personal hygiene activities
Monitor girls' bathrooms and girls' showers.
Conduct regular walk-throughs and inspections of girls' rooms, hallways, and private dorm areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and adherence to school policies.
If necessary, the Boarding Assistant is required to carry and assist any injured or disabled student to evacuate.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Student Life support
Ensure to provide a safe environment for the dormitory.
Ensure that students follow the daily schedule and the School's dormitory policies.
Provide support and supervision for students during non-academic hours. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, staffing the dormitory offices to handle requests and questions from students and coordinating with a nurse to care for sick students.
Be available to students, as necessary, to support their personal, educational, and academic needs.
Review and confirm multiple forms submitted by parents and students.
Back-up Head of House when they are off-duty.
Direct questions/concerns to the right contact.
Provide 1-2 Independent Living Skills (ILS) classes per week as part of the Academic Extension Program.
Plan and carry out various fun events for students (e.g., House parties, games, shopping tours, etc.) both on- and off-campus. Prepare snacks and food for special events.
In case of emergencies during evening and nighttime hours, chaperone sick/injured students to the ER as needed.
Pick up mail and packages for students from a storage room or the Administration Office.
Ensure all students evacuate safely from the Residence Halls during fire drills and/or emergencies.
Other duties to be assigned by the Head of House or the Dean of Boarding
