The Blake School seeks a skilled and passionate part-time violin/viola sectional coach to support the Middle School orchestra program from January-May 2026.
This position leads 6-8 violin and viola small-group lessons/sectionals per month at Middle School on Blake’s Hopkins campus. Key Responsibilities
- Lead violin and/or viola small-group lessons/sectionals to enhance students’ technical proficiency, musical expression and independence
- Collaborate with the main instrumental director to align instruction with program goals
- Foster student creativity, discipline and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment
Required Qualifications
- Experience teaching violin and viola to middle school students (grades 6-8)
- Expertise in strings pedagogy, rehearsal planning and implementation
- Experience teaching both small groups and one-on-one instruction
- BA/BM required; MM preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty and administrators
- Excellent communication skills

Rate of Pay: $55 per hour
This rate of pay includes the expected rate for this position. In making a rate of pay determination, we consider professional experience, applicable qualifications and other job-related factors. Based on these factors, a candidate's rate of pay offer could exceed this range.
