The Blake School seeks a skilled and passionate part-time low strings sectional coach to support the Upper School orchestra program from September 2026-May 2027.
This position leads twice-monthly sectional/masterclasses for cello and/or double bass students on Blake’s Upper School campus in Minneapolis. Key Responsibilities
- Lead cello and/or double bass sectional/masterclasses to enhance student technical proficiency, musical expression and independence
- Collaborate with the main instrumental director to align instruction with program goals
- Foster student creativity, discipline and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment
Required Qualifications
- Experience teaching low strings to high school students (grades 9-12)
- Expertise in strings pedagogy, rehearsal planning and implementation
- Experience teaching both small groups and one-on-one instruction
- BA/BM required; MM preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty and administrators
- Excellent communication skills

Rate of Pay: $55 per hour
