The Blake School seeks a skilled and passionate part-time low strings sectional coach to support the Upper School orchestra program from September 2026-May 2027.
This position leads twice-monthly sectional/masterclasses for cello and/or double bass students on Blake’s Upper School campus in Minneapolis. Blake strongly encourages applications from candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead cello and/or double bass sectional/masterclasses to enhance student technical proficiency, musical expression and independence
Collaborate with the main instrumental director to align instruction with program goals
Foster student creativity, discipline and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment
Required Qualifications
Experience teaching low strings to high school students (grades 9-12)
Expertise in strings pedagogy, rehearsal planning and implementation
Experience teaching both small groups and one-on-one instruction
BA/BM required; MM preferred
Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty and administrators
Excellent communication skills

Rate of Pay: $55 per hour
