POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will teach Early Learning General Music for Pre-K3 through 4th Grade. The Early Learning music curriculum at The Galloway School is an essential part of our vibrant Fine Arts program.
From Pre-K3 through 4th grade, the Early Learning General Music Teacher will be responsible for engaging students of varying ages and developmental stages in an interactive and inspiring music curriculum. Through singing, movement, instrument exploration, and creative expression, the teacher will foster a love for music while developing foundational skills in rhythm, melody, and musical collaboration.
This role will also help prepare students for public presentations, performances, and assemblies throughout the year, including planning programs, rehearsal calendars, and collaborating with EL team. Additionally, the Early Learning General Music Teacher will collaborate with other EL specialist faculty and classroom teachers to create meaningful, interdisciplinary learning experiences for students.
The Early Learning General Music Teacher will work closely with other arts faculty to ensure a cohesive, collaborative curriculum that builds a strong foundation for musical skills taught in Middle Learning Music. Units throughout the year might incorporate singing, rhythm and movement activities, percussion instruments (drums and xylophone), stringed instruments (ukelele), and wind instruments (recorder), storytelling through music, music literacy, and world music exploration—all adapted to meet the developmental needs of young learners.
Above all, the Early Learning General Music Teacher will cultivate a joyful, inclusive, and inspiring creative space where every student can discover their musical potential and feel valued in their artistic journey.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities include and are not limited to:
Embody and advocate for the mission and vision of the school
Cultivate and celebrate the unique creative expression of each student
Teach music-based lessons for Early Learning students
Prepare students for culminating public performances throughout the year
Collaborate closely with Fine Arts faculty, the Director of Fine Arts, EL Faculty members, and seek feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement
Participate in extracurricular activities, such as field trips or hosting guest artist experiences
Participate constructively and collaboratively in professional development, grade level, and department meetings
Maintain a safe, comfortable, and engaging classroom environment.
Communicate with parents in an appropriate and timely manner.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Full time employees may be expected to perform carpool, lunch or recess duties
EL Specialists help to plan the yearly week-long Happening (thematic experiential learning)
