Germantown Friends School is seeking an Upper School Learning Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year to support students’ academic growth and progress. This position is a full-time, ten-month position that reports to the Director of Student Services/School Psychologist.
Responsibilities include:
Serving as an advocate and support for students with diverse learning needs.
Providing individual and group executive functioning support to students in the Upper School to promote their academic growth.
Staffing the Learning Center to accommodate drop-in student sessions and administer testing with accommodations.
Collecting and analyzing data to inform decision-making and provide student-specific support.
Interpreting psychoeducational assessment data in order to create student Learning Plans based on their identified strengths and needs.
Maintaining and managing the implementation of students’ Learning Plans by collaborating with teachers, parents, students, and administrators.
Collaborating with teachers, administrators, parents, and outside professionals in order to better understand and support students with diverse learning profiles.
Leading Student Support Team meetings in the Upper School in collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure continued attention to the needs of students.
Supporting the administrative team holistically in providing exceptional support services within the Upper School.
Working collaboratively on a team with other members of Learning Support.
Qualifications:
Teaching background in secondary education and/or experience assessing, teaching, or supporting high school students with learning difficulties, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental differences
Master’s degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Special Education, Educational Psychology)
Expertise in the school-based application of Executive Functioning skills
Background in teacher consultation and an ability to effectively partner with teachers, administrators, and parents
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High degree of efficiency in learning new technologies for managing data that is required to support divisional and school administration
Strong cross-cultural competency skills
