Since 1888, Saltus Grammar School has been shaping the future of education in Bermuda. Primary Teacher
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality Primary instruction aligned with competency-based curriculum frameworks, including the BC Curriculum, and responding to the diverse learning needs of students. The role includes assessment, reporting, and active partnership with families in support of student learning and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Primary learning experiences aligned with competency-based curriculum frameworks, including the BC Curriculum
Support the development of the BC Core Competencies: Communication, Thinking, and Personal & Social, through daily instruction, learning design, and assessment
Support students in developing self-awareness, collaboration, critical and creative thinking, and effective communication skills
Teach students according to their educational needs, including differentiated and personalized instruction
Use inquiry-based pedagogies to promote curiosity, problem-solving, and deep conceptual understanding
Assess, record, and report on student progress, development, and attainment using a range of assessment approaches aligned with competency-based learning
Support student-led conferences and contribute to online reporting processes
Integrate educational technologies effectively to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment
Ability to partner proactively with parents in support of student learning and wellbeing
Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities and the broader life of the School, including after-school clubs
Willingness to undertake additional duties as required, including cover, student supervision, and full participation in professional learning opportunities
Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Skills
A recognized graduate qualification at the university level, with appropriate academic credentials
A minimum of three years’ teaching experience
Eligible to obtain licensure with the Bermuda Educators Council and the British Columbia Teacher Certification https://teacherregulation. gov.bc.ca
Knowledge of, and experience applying, a Reggio-inspired approach to learning is an asset
Proven ability to differentiate and personalize learning in a Primary classroom
A reflective, lifelong learner committed to professional growth and continuous improvement
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in response to changing student and school needs
Strong collaboration skills and willingness to contribute positively to a collegial school culture
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Strategic Priorities of Saltus
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, diplomacy, and tact
Commitment to student safeguarding, wellbeing, and child protection best practices
Relevant student safety certifications (e.g., SCARS, First Aid/CPR/ AED) are preferred or must be obtained
