POSITION DESCRIPTION
Browning is searching for a full-time Grade 2 Associate Teacher for a leave replacement role. This position will go from February 18- June 10, 2026. Partnering with head teacher(s) in delivering instruction in English language arts, mathematics, and social studies
Shepherding both the social-emotional and academic growth of the boys in your care
Helping to cultivate a classroom environment that is warm and welcoming, while holding students to high expectations for excellence
Creating strong relationships with students built on Browning’s core values of honesty, dignity, curiosity, and purpose
Collaborating as a professional, collegial, and inspirational member of the faculty and your teaching team
Participating in professional development to grow self, division, and school
Assisting with communication with families about curricular and student matters as needed
Heartily contributing to the school community
Performing non-classroom duties as needed such as early arrival, bus dismissal, lunch duty, recess supervision, and providing substitute coverage when a head teacher is absent
Key Competencies and Qualifications
In general, successful members of the Browning faculty are:
Champions of boys -- They believe in and love the expansive potential in boys.
Relationship-oriented -- They actively build meaningful relationships with students and families.
Purpose-driven -- They are inquiry-minded, curious and resourceful in finding solutions and growth opportunities.
Dignity seeking -- They seek to address students as individuals and engage in the deep work of spreading dignity in the classroom and school community.
Can-do collaborators -- They seek collaboration and listen deeply to others, and they believe that a can-do attitude allows a team to accomplish more.
A successful Lower School Associate Teacher will possess most or all of the following:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in elementary education or a related field
Knowledge and appreciation of working with boys (preferred)
Strong classroom management skills in creating a warm and productive learning environment for all students
Knowledge of teaching pedagogy in literacy, math, and social studies
Understanding and appreciation of teaching students from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to proactively collaborate with students, faculty, and parents
Refined writing and organizational skills

The Browning gentleman develops amid a community that upholds our core values: honesty, dignity, curiosity and purpose. We speak the truth, act with integrity and take responsibility for our actions. We honor and celebrate the dignity of all people and support the power of a diverse, inclusive and welcoming community. We encourage and celebrate open-minded inquiry about our world and the perspectives of those around us. We believe that education encourages exploration and discovery in pursuit of meaning and enduring fulfillment.
The Browning School strives to create a diverse community in which all members are safe, respected, and valued. We believe that in actively promoting a diverse learning environment, we are fostering intellectual, social, and emotional growth for all.
