Charleston Collegiate School is an independent day school that strives to recognize, nurture, and challenge each student. Job Description
The 3-Year-Old Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a dynamic, developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with Charleston Collegiate School's mission, values, and pillars. This position requires a nurturing, creative, and organized individual who can foster a love for learning and a sense of community in young children. The teacher will build a supportive, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement a curriculum aligned with CCS’s Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach that incorporates play, exploration, and discovery.
Scaffold learning experiences to meet the developmental needs of 3-year-olds in areas such as early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional skills, and motor development.
Incorporate CCS core values of empathy, integrity, community, optimism, and advocacy into daily lessons and interactions.
Establish a safe, welcoming, and organized classroom that promotes exploration and learning.
Model and encourage positive interactions, helping children develop social-emotional skills such as cooperation, empathy, and conflict resolution.
Implement clear, consistent routines and expectations that foster a sense of security and independence in young learners.
Partner with families to support each child’s growth and success, maintaining regular communication about milestones, challenges, and celebrations.
Work closely with other teachers and staff to integrate cross-curricular opportunities and ensure alignment with CCS’s values and goals.
Collaborate with the Specials team to enhance learning experiences through music, movement, and creative arts and language.
Incorporate opportunities for students to engage with the local community, fostering connections that support learning and community integration.
Organize two age-appropriate field trips annually to enrich classroom learning.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
Participate in school-wide meetings, professional development opportunities, and events.
Stay informed about best practices in early childhood education and integrate them into the classroom.
Qualifications
College Degree (minimum Bachelor's)
Good working knowledge of Google Suite
Efficient typing, email, database, spreadsheet, and internet skills
Ability to communicate effectively and get along with co-workers and management
Ability to maintain regular and timely attendance
Ability to exercise sound judgment, problem-solve, and manage multiple projects
Ability to present a professional image as a representative of the School
Current in advanced first-aid training or equivalent
