The Director of Nursing provides leadership and oversight for Westminster’s nursing team and campus health operations. This position is responsible for supervising nursing staff, managing clinic supplies and budgets, coordinating workers’ compensation claims, and implementing wellness initiatives.
In collaboration with administrators, counselors, HR, and academic liaisons, the Director ensures the provision of responsive, high-quality healthcare for students, faculty, and staff. The role also includes direct patient care, health record management, emergency preparedness, and promoting a culture of well-being across the community.

Position Status: Salaried, exempt, full-time, 12-month (follows the Academic School Calendar)
Hours of Work: This is a full-time, year-round position. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work may be required.

Registered Nurse with a current Georgia nursing license
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and AED certification
Professional Skills & Experience
Proficiency with electronic health record systems and standard productivity platforms (e.g., Magnus Health, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
Ability to work independently, to maintain strict confidentiality, and to interface effectively with a diverse constituency, representing the School with integrity and professionalism
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interpret clinical, regulatory, and policy-related information and communicate effectively with students, families, faculty, staff, and external healthcare providers

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides health care services to students, faculty, and staff by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.
Clinical Care and Health Services
Establishes and upholds clinical standards of care, documentation protocols, and health procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality nursing services across all divisions
Provides direct clinical care as needed, including assessment, treatment, and medication administration, in accordance with nursing standards and School protocols by anchoring the Pressly infirmary and covering other infirmaries as needed
Collaborates with students, families, faculty, counselors, and administrators to support continuity of care and students’ holistic well-being
Health Records and Compliance
Oversees student health records using Magnus Health, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance
Monitors and manages immunization records, health forms, and physician documentation required for attendance and program participation
Ensures compliance with applicable HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, CDC, and public health regulations
Develops, implements, and oversees health-related protocols, including medication administration, documentation standards, and family communication practices
Team Leadership and Supervision
Leads, supervises, mentors, and evaluates the campus nursing team to ensure professional excellence and consistent standards of care
Oversees staffing models, coverage plans, and workload distribution to meet the health needs of students and staff across all divisions
Supports onboarding, training, and professional development of nursing staff
Emergency Preparedness and Response
Coordinates and ensures completion of CPR, First Aid, and emergency response training for all faculty and staff; serves as the point person for campus-wide health emergency planning and drills
Responds to campus medical emergencies and provides leadership during health-related crises
Maintains emergency response equipment and ensures preparedness for injury, illness, or widespread health events
Serves as a key advisor in campus safety planning and health risk management initiatives
May be required to become a Certified CPR and First Aid Instructor
May be required to complete regular and ongoing first responder training
Administrative Leadership and Collaboration
Manages clinic operations, including budgeting, supply inventory, and resource allocation
Manages health-related workplace injuries, Workers’ Compensation matters, and employee accommodations in collaboration with Human Resources
Serves as a liaison to administrators, athletic trainers, families, and external healthcare providers
Participates in student support, administrative, and risk management meetings as appropriate
Collaborates with school leadership on health-related policies and contributes to long-term strategic planning for wellness initiatives and emergency preparedness
Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid is required.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.

TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required, primarily for planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Driving a Westminster vehicle may be required for this position.
