The 17-acre Drake campus houses pre-kindergarten through grade eight, while the Upper School is located at the 76-acre Garth campus. Randolph School seeks a Director of Arts, with the primary responsibilities of establishing a student-centered PK-12 vision for the Visual and Performing Arts Program and guiding the department in executing the program vision. The Director of Arts must demonstrate a deep understanding of and high regard for the School’s mission to provide “a rigorous and well-rounded K-12 college preparatory education within a nurturing community”; to promote “commitment to excellence in academics, the arts, and athletics”; and to emphasize “honor, integrity, and character.”
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Serve as a faculty member with a partial teaching load in the Arts
Serve as a member of the Administrative Leadership Team
Collaborate with the Assistant Head for Academic Affairs and the Athletic Director to maintain continuity between Academics, the Arts, and Athletics
Collaborate with the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School Division Heads to establish and maintain developmentally appropriate areas of learning in the arts
Collaborate with the Advancement Office to ensure that aspects of admissions, development, and communications are appropriately included in arts programming
Manage the classroom/programmatic budgets, sponsorships, and needs of the arts department
Manage, observe, and review the faculty and staff members of the arts department
Facilitate regular meetings for the department and assist arts faculty one-on-one with challenges and special projects
Serve as a member of the Facilities Use Committee, helping to establish precedence, protocol, and continuity for use of Randolph’s facilities
Oversee the use of the School’s performance, exhibit, and teaching spaces
Take an active role in professional activities and attend relevant professional meetings and conferences
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required, master’s degree preferred
Successful experience managing complex performing arts spaces
Established record of working closely with colleagues, parents, students, and peer schools
Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship
