Position description
The Auxiliary and Summer Program Director has two primary responsibilities. The first is to oversee all auxiliary programming during the school year and summer, including after-school activities (Arts, Athletics, and Extended Day), Summer Camp, Spring Break Camp, and non-school day Staffulty Extended Day. The second is to supervise the classroom assistants in Grades 1-5; these assistants also serve as the administrative staff for all after-school and summer programming.
The Auxiliary and Summer Program Director (ASPD) is passionate about working with students in Preschool through Grade 8 and finds joy in supporting students through a variety of activities as they learn and engage through play, sports, arts, and, when needed, homework. The ASPD understands the importance of their role as nurturer, activity leader, schedule manager, and supporter of students and the program. They understand their role as overseers of after-school and summer programming to ensure that the logistics are smooth and consistent for everyone involved. The ASPD is organized, understanding the importance of planning for transitions so that the program is successful. The ASPD is also a strong communicator, whether in communication with families, instructors, or other members of the school. While not directly hiring or supervising the arts or athletics instructors, their role is critical to ensure the logistics run smoothly so that the classes and camps are successful. The ASPD is also intuitive and able to manage and resolve conflicts that arise among students in the after-school or summer space. The ASPD approaches each afternoon’s programming with flexibility and positivity, allowing them to have fun above all else with the students and teachers.
The ASPD also oversees and supervises the Lower School Assistants in Grades 1-5 and any additional part-time Extended Day staff. During the summer, they also oversee the MS Assistant and any additional summer camp staff. In this, the ASPD builds relationships with Lower School teachers and Administration in support of the assistants so that they are successful throughout the entire day. They are also a key member of the Lower School team and serve as another support team member when students need additional support, whether at recess or in the classroom.
The ASPD understands the importance of collaboration between departments and teams, effective communication for all involved, organization, and planning. They are the cog in the wheel to ensure that programming runs smoothly. Position Overview: Duties & Responsibilities
The Auxiliary and Summer Program Director is responsible for:
Overseeing the auxiliary programming during the school year and the summer, including:
Summer Camp
Spring Break Camp
After-school activities, including Arts, Athletics, and Extended Day (ED)
Non-school day Staffulty ED
Planning for the Extended Day program (excluding the Arts and Athletics)
Coordinating the transitions of the auxiliary programming, including student check-in and release, lunch supervision (summer camp), etc;
Managing and supervising the assistants in Grades 1-5, additional part-time ED staff, and summer employees; including creating and supporting their schedules and assignments, completing yearly goal setting and reviews, training and setting work expectations; running point on hiring process for assistants and any additional ED staff;
Working closely with the After School Activities Assistant and Registrar on registrations and billing;
Supports and manages needs and issues as they arise for student participants in auxiliary program spaces, and communicates with families and teachers accordingly;
Supporting students at recess or in the classrooms as needed;
Communication between each department (arts, athletics, finance) and the Lower and Middle School to ensure programmatic goals are met;
Ensuring mission alignment with auxiliary programs and stewarding a culture of consistency;
Joint oversight of the billing for all Auxiliary programs;
Manage the budget of the Extended Day program.
Salary & Benefits

Qualifications
The Auxiliary and Summer Program Director will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences. Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education or other related fields, and a minimum of five years of relevant experience;
