LCDS seeks an experienced educator who genuinely enjoys working with Middle and Upper School students and who holds him or herself to the highest professional standards. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in teaching Health & Wellness and Physical Education classes, as well as coaching. The eventual hire will join a highly collaborative team of Physical Education and Athletics professionals who are dedicated to outstanding teaching and learning and who challenge students to exceed their goals - academically, athletically, and personally. Responsibilities: -Teaches two to three sections of Middle and Upper School Health & Wellness courses - Teaches two sections of Upper School P.E. courses, including Body Fitness & Wellness and Foundations of Fitness - In partnership with P.E. and Health colleagues, designs and implements pedagogically sound curriculum - Supervises and helps maintain the state-of-the-art Rebert Fitness Center - Serves as the Strength & Conditioning Coach for LCDS interscholastic athletics teams OR - Coaches a minimum of two seasons. Please refer to the LCDS website for details on open coaching positions. - Serves as an advisor for a group of 6-8 mixed grade Upper School students - Collaborates closely with colleagues across disciplines - Assesses students regularly, using assessment data to drive instruction - Provides students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress - Performs daily operational duties as assigned, including study hall, lunch, recess, bus, or circle monitoring - Participates actively in the life of the school
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a closely related field; Master’s degree preferred - Minimum of three years of teaching and coaching experience preferred - Comfort with and enthusiasm for Middle School and Upper School students and their unique developmental needs - Commitment to an outstanding teaching practice, including continuous reflection, innovation, and professional development - Ability to communicate and partner effectively with parents and caregivers, administration, and colleagues - Commitment to create and sustain a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment for all students - Dedication to holistic student development and sportsmanship - Desire to be part of building the larger school culture and community
