Holy Child seeks an experienced science teacher to serve as a year-long leave replacement teaching Anatomy and Physiology and possibly one section of Chemistry. Ideal candidates are dedicated educators who value interdisciplinary teaching and creative learning experiences; will possess strong instructional, organizational, and communication skills; ideally have a minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience; and are highly motivated and passionate about making a difference in students’ lives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 2-3 sections of Anatomy and possibly 1 section of Chemistry
- Provide academic support for students outside of class time, as needed
- Engage with new technologies and methodologies for teaching and assessing
- Design and facilitate laboratory investigations and hands-on learning activities
- Show a commitment to community and belonging work
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with every member of the community: students, families, and colleagues alike
- Communicate regularly and effectively with Division Heads and advisors about student progress
- Work with the Learning Center to support students with learning differences
- Attend and participate in parent conferences and school events
- Participate in grade-level and school-wide meetings, as needed
- Cover study halls, lunch duties, and other assignments, as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree, or higher, in education or a related science field preferred
- Ideally, 3 years of experience teaching a similar age group and similar content
- Passionate and knowledgeable about progressive education, problem-based teaching and learning, and differentiation
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- A good sense of humor and collegial spirit
Coupled with these credentials, the candidate will have a deep understanding of differentiated instruction, a flexible and team-oriented approach, exceptional organizational and written communication skills with attention to detail, and superior interpersonal skills. In addition, candidates with experience in an all-girls, faith-based school and those who will embrace our School's mission of "developing women of conscience and action" are preferable.
