Job Summary:
Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the school currently enrolls 945 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse, democratic society and global community.”
We are seeking a full-time Technology Assistant to work with our Technology department to support and manage audio-visual equipment throughout the school, both in the classroom and in shared meeting spaces. The Assistant will manage the devices for the school’s 1:1 iPad program. The Assistant will also support hardware used in the Library by the ILIS Department (3D Printers, laser cutters, VR headsets, etc.) and set up student-based accounts.
The Assistant works year-round. This position requires occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
AV Support
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair AV equipment school-wide, including projectors, speakers, document cameras, Apple TV, and Smartboards
- Work with organizers to ensure equipment is ready to use for scheduled events, including onsite troubleshooting
- Work with vendors and 3rd party contractors for installation, repair and upgrades of all AV hardware
- Proactively train employees and students on proper use of classroom and meeting space AV equipment, including conducting in-person training sessions and providing written documentation
- Identify, recommend, and scope future AV equipment improvements
- Work with Auditorium manager to provide secondary support for large scale Auditorium events
- Work with Technology Department to provide 1st level support as needed
1:1 iPad Deployment
- Collect, inspect, box and ship all iPads contained in expiring lease agreement
- Unbox, configure and deploy of all new iPads for the coming school year
- Inspect and update all iPads remaining in school for the coming school year
- Work with employees to handle the backup and exchange of expiring iPads with new devices
- Review current state of MDM configuration policies and update for the coming school year as necessary
ILIS/Library Support
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair hardware and devices used in the Library and TIDES Garage (Library AV system, 3D printers, lasercutters, VR headsets, robotics)
- Occasionally work with ILIS teachers to provide in-class support for students in grades JK-12
- Work with vendors and 3rd party contractors for installation, repair and upgrades of all Library hardware
- Proactively train employees and students on proper use of classroom and meeting space AV equipment, including conducting in-person training sessions and providing written documentation
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Enthusiasm for working in collaboration with colleagues and in a team-based environment
- Familiarity with technology and educational applications
- Familiarity with devices including but not limited to iPads and laptops
- Experience working with children; work experience in an educational setting preferred
- Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional maturity
- A willingness to learn and improve professionally
