Purpose:The Dean of Campus Safety is responsible for overseeing campus safety, security and emergency preparedness at Fryeburg Academy. This individual reports to FA’s Dean of Campus Life.
Specific duties fall among the following essential functions of the job:
Coordinate all aspects of safety, security, emergency preparedness, crisis management and communication, and safety drills
Assess and advise senior leadership regarding school safety protocols
Assist with the planning, design and implementation of FA’s ongoing technology security plan
Lead in-house investigations related to facilities’ security or school community’s safety
Assess and respond to campus video access requests
Act as the liaison with first responders serving Fryeburg Academy
Oversee and manage the School Emergency Team (‘SET’)
Manage building access control and campus keys
Serve on the School Behavioral Threat Assessment Team
Serve as the Title IX Sexual Harassment Investigation Coordinator
Provide and coordinate safety training for the FA community
Evaluate, hire and train Fryeburg Academy drivers, coordinate transportation requests in collaboration with the nurse’s office, residential life office, academics, and athletics department
Collaborate with the dean’s office and the office of health and wellness to address truancy, including accompanying counselors, deans and our family liaison on home visits
Maintain and update FA’s Comprehensive School Emergency Plan
Provide daily supervision during the morning and afternoon bus pick up and in the student parking lots
Serve as an administrator on duty on a rotating basis, approximately 4-6 weekends annually
Provide supervision and crowd control support at major campus events such as graduation, Friday night lights, playoff games, and other similar events.
Qualifying Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Professional background in public safety/school safety/security/law enforcement
Κnowledge, Skills, Dispositions:
Professionalism and positive interpersonal skills, including interactions informed by an understanding of adolescent development
Ability to prioritize in a school setting; sound organizational abilities and practices
Effective oral and written communication skills
Competence in technology applications

This is a full-time school year position, including pre-season athletics with an additional 10 days during the summer break.
