The Communications Specialist at Ursuline Academy of Dallas will play a vital role in gathering and sharing compelling stories that highlight the school's rich tradition of academic excellence, innovation, and service. Working closely with the Chief Communications Officer and communications team, this position involves creating and curating thoughtful narratives that resonate with the Ursuline Academy community. In addition to content creation and management of communication channels, the Specialist will collaborate with various departments and parent organizations to build and nurture relationships, ensuring consistent, inclusive, and impactful communication across all platforms.

General Authority:
The Communications Specialist reports to the Chief Communications Officer, who in turn, reports to the President of the Academy.
Overview of Responsibilities:
Content Creation: Draft written content for the school’s website, newsletters, social media channels, annual community magazine, etc. Manage editorial calendar across platforms.
Website Content Management: Support content management for the school’s website, including ongoing maintenance of the School Portal. Support school departments in maintaining accurate and up-to-date content across the website.
Social Media Management: Manage the school’s social media platforms, collaborating with various departments, faculty and students to capture and create engaging content. Maintain school-related social media guidelines and ensure adherence across departments. Capture compelling photography and video for school social media accounts, ensuring authenticity in representing the school community. Report on KPIs monthly.
Photography: Provide support for school photo shoots and direct photographers at school events to capture content for communications initiatives.
Publications and Email Newsletters: Oversee the production, content creation, proofreading, quality assurance, and distribution of email newsletters as well as additional school publications and collateral.
Public Relations: Assist in managing the school's proactive and responsive public relations efforts and monitoring press coverage to ensure a positive public image. Support earned media strategies by monitoring industry trends, identifying opportunities for media engagement, facilitating interviews, and maintaining relationships with local and regional journalists.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, photography, or a related field.
1 – 3 years of experience in marketing or communications, preferably within a values-driven organization.
Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, mass-mailing email platforms, and Microsoft Office. Experience with social media scheduling and planning platforms (SocialBee, Sprout Social, etc.), Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
Proven experience managing social media platforms and digital marketing campaigns.
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, with a demonstrated interest in photography and videography.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to interact respectfully with community members.

This is a full-time, 12-month, salaried position with benefits.
The role requires occasional work during evenings and weekends.
