Position: Part-Time Science Teacher for High School (People with OPT are welcome to apply)

Springfield Commonwealth Academy is in search of a dynamic Science teacher with a passion for High School Sciences, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science, Environmental Science and other related Disciplines in the field. Responsibilities:
Cultivate students' zeal and excitement as well as an aptitude for learning and comprehension through the use of SCA-approved curricula, aligned with MA DESE (Massachusetts Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education) Curriculum Frameworks and Learning Standards. In particular and in focus the Massachusetts Science and Technology Engineering framework.
Recording instruction with laboratory hours and components for student progress, activities, and results
Creating lesson plans, and providing an example of the skills required to perform to cultivate students' interest, aptitude, and skills for learning and comprehension
Providing a secure/safe and conducive learning environment; and giving feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding expectations, goals, and others
Participate in school management and share responsibility for the overall program; Attend staff meetings and staff committees as needed; Develop reasonable rules of behavior and procedure for the classroom; Assist the administration in putting all policies and rules governing student life and conduct for the classroom into practice
Implement interventions for students who struggle with the taught and tested curriculum
Create a classroom/laboratory environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process.
Plan to be accessible to parents and students for education-related matters outside of assigned tasks; and provide feedback to parents, students, and administration regarding goals, expectations, and other aspects of the students' progress.
Understand and effectively convey SCA’s philosophy, vision, and mission.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or a related field.
A valid Massachusetts teaching certification/ license (preferred)
Proven experience in teaching science at a high school level, with a strong understanding of concepts, applications, laboratory components, assessments, and evaluation
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive learning environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
A commitment to professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
