Commonwealth Academy is seeking to hire a full-time temporary faculty member beginning November 1, 2024 through the end of the current school year - with the possibility of future employment. CA seeks a teacher who constructs meaningful educational experiences that allow students to solve real-world problems and show they have learned the big ideas, powerful skills, and habits of mind and heart that meet academic standards.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with CA’s curriculum team to produce lesson plans and classroom materials.
Review and implement instruction based on each student’s Student Action Plan (SAP) and work collaboratively with the CA Support Team to best support learning needs.
Design, implement, and administer classroom-based assessments to measure progress toward academic standards and determine areas of student misunderstanding, as well as refine instructional practices
Use appropriate and approved teaching materials and assistive technologies to facilitate learning
Set and reinforce clear expectations, goals, and routines that align with CA’s mission.
Participate in faculty professional development and other committee/department meetings as needed
Communicate with families regarding student performance, including completion (or non-completion) of assignments.
Maintain classroom records and protect the confidentiality of the records
Utilize technology appropriately to support student learning such as Google Suite (including Google Classroom), CA’s Student Information System’s (SIS), and classroom board technology. Utilize these technologies to perform tasks such posting homework and long-term assignments, weekly grade reports, announcements, and necessary class files and links.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Must be willing to accommodate for student learning needs, specifically students with learning differences
Must demonstrate knowledge of current instructional and behavior management techniques
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the students
Able to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
