Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a Maternity Leave Replacement for an Upper School Science Assistant Teacher for 11th grade chemistry for the 2024-2025 school year (Beginning in early January).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Support with planning science curriculum, lessons, and assignments
Support with attendance each period
Support with maintaining gradebook
Support with writing student progress reports
Work collaboratively with team members
Support students by
Scaffolding in-class assignments, tasks and projects
Developing critical thinking, problem solving skills and tools to become self advocates and productive learners
Utilizing multimodal methods of teaching
Assess student work and participation
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
BA or BS Degree (Degree in Education, Special Education, Science or related field preferred)
Knowledge of general science including chemistry concepts
Experience working with, mentoring, supervising and/or building positive relationships with children
Ability to work comfortably with a team
Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective teaching strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology in the classroom
Interest in professional career development in the field of special education
Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
45K-53K commensurate with experience
