Are you passionate about math? Come join a committed, caring, and innovative team that supports faculty to teach in the way that best serves the students. At Chance Academy, we believe that learning is about doing: that hands-on work to understand the why and the how of information is the foundation of gaining knowledge. Chance Academy, in Northeast Washington DC, is seeking candidates for an immediate opening for a Part-time Math Teacher, for 4th-to-8th graders for the 2024-2025 school year. The hours would be 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Fridays.
Chance Academy is a special place to work. We are unique — not just in our approach to education -- but in our dedication to teacher self-care and to a culture of restorative practices to address challenges. Together, our team works toward a positive, values-based learning environment in which each child is supported and challenged to grow both academically and emotionally.
All candidates for the Part-time Math Teacher position must enjoy working with students in grades 4-to-8, be familiar with multi-aged classrooms, and bring an enthusiastic, inquiry-based approach to learning.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with or willing to learn to use the Singapore Math curriculum that is used through all the grades at Chance Academy. Candidates with experience in Eureka Math or Tang Math will be considered as well as candidates who can demonstrate a growth mindset and willingness to work with experienced teachers who will mentor the candidate on the use of the Singapore math curriculum.
