he Community Theater Academy at Walnut Hill School for the Arts seeks a reliable and motivated Stagehand to assist with technical rehearsals and performances. The Stagehand plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the production and requires a mix of physical tasks, technical skills, and teamwork. This is a temporary part-time position as needed with the opportunity to return for future productions.
The Community Theater Academy is dedicated to inspiring and entertaining young audiences through engaging theatrical experiences. We pride ourselves on creating a magical experience for children and families, and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team for the upcoming productions of Frozen JR and Frozen KIDS.
Responsibilities Include:
Assist with the setup and breakdown of stage equipment and props;
Support the technical crew during rehearsals and performances;
Help maintain a safe and organized backstage environment;
Assist with behavior management as needed;
Collaborate with the director and production team to ensure all cues are executed effectively;
Assist with quick changes and scene transitions during performances;
Participate in pre-show and post-show clean-up;
Assisting with outdoor arrivals and dismissals; and
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Previous experience in theater production or stage management preferred;
Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude;
Background checks required;
Availability for all rehearsals and performances between December 4th and December 15th.

Physical Demands:
Staff assist in outdoor arrivals and dismissals and are therefore exposed to the elements of weather.
Physical demands include dexterity for department specific tools and equipment, and office machine and supply operation including but not limited to: writing, typing, using electronic devices, computer, phone, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and printers. Ability and dexterity to practice and demonstrate your artistic discipline. Stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and sitting or standing for extended periods of time are common. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly through language and physical demonstration required.
