Middle School Spanish Teacher (Maternity Leave Replacement)
The Elisabeth Morrow School, a leader in education from early childhood through middle school, seeks a passionate, creative, and nurturing full-time, Spanish teacher to teach fifth through eighth grades as a maternity leave replacement from March 1st, 2025 through June 15th, 2025. This position will report to the head of middle school and work collaboratively with our world language department and colleagues. The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the Spanish language and be enthusiastic about sharing a love of the Spanish language and culture in and out of the classroom.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Create, plan, and execute lessons and activities that introduce students to the Spanish language and culture using the agreed-upon curriculum, content, and resources.
Develop a positive and joyful classroom environment that engages and motivates students to achieve their potential.
Foster relationships with students, faculty, and families.
Collaborate with colleagues in various capacities, including planning, evaluating student growth, mentoring, and peer observations.
Communicate with faculty, staff, students, and families in a considerate, compassionate, courteous, and cooperative manner.
Attend conferences and participate in other professional development to deliver best-in-class teaching to inspire developing minds.
Be your best self daily from 7:45–3:45 p.m. and until 4:45 p.m. on Mondays for faculty meetings.
Be available for a few curricular and community evening events.
Assess and report on student development and academic progress.
Prepare written reports twice a year and hold conferences, both formal and informal, with families.
Meet the needs of our students outside of the school day schedule, including planning and supporting club activities and other extracurricular opportunities.
Essential Qualifications
Be capable of facilitating differentiated lessons and provide an atmosphere in which children feel safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
Possess strong communication and organizational skills.
