Upper School History Instructor Academic Year 2025-2026
Morristown Beard School seeks a dynamic and dedicated full-time History teacher for grades 9-12 for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and exhibit a progressive, multidisciplinary, and collaborative approach in the classroom. This individual will also contribute positively to our school’s supportive and caring environment, fostering a respectful, equitable, and inclusive classroom culture aligned with the values of MBS: Personal Responsibility, Awareness of Diverse Perspectives, Engagement, Tenacity, Independence of Mind, Humor and Humility.
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate expertise in historical practice and a rich knowledge of specialized content area
Be willing to teach a range of history courses in grades 9-12
Differentiate instruction based on feedback, needs, and learning levels
Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate and communicate readily with colleagues
Communicate effectively with students and families about student progress
Identify and support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral learning needs
Engage actively in school life by participating in clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities
Responsibilities:
Teach 4 classes
Act as an advisor
Support the School’s activities program
Rotate through supervisory duties, such as detention, dismissal, study hall, etc.
