Andrews Osborne Academy Lower School is seeking an experienced part time P.E. Teacher for a maternity leave beginning mid-April through the end of the 2024-2025 school year. The P.E. Teacher will be responsible for teaching Physical Education to PreK through 5th grades. This position is three full days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
The successful candidate must possess the interest and energy to thrive within a lively workplace, a genuine love of working with children, a sense of humor and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and collegial environment, as well as, be comfortable incorporating the use of various technologies to support student learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key duties for faculty members include classroom instruction; effective communication with students, parents and colleagues; active participation in the work of the department and division on curriculum and pedagogy
The P.E. teacher will:
Display flexibility, optimism, creativity, high expectations, and a growth mindset
Teach knowledge and skills in physical education
Perform duties as assigned (recess, car, bus duties)
Participate enthusiastically in the school community outside the classroom
Develop positive working relationships with colleagues, students and families
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and Head of School
Qualifications:
Must love working with and have a deep understanding of the developmental needs of elementary aged children
Bachelor’s degree at a minimum
Elementary teaching experience preferable at an Independent School
